2024年3月4日14点48分，我国首口设计井深超万米的科学探索井——中国石油塔里木油田深地塔科1井钻探深度突破10000米，成为世界陆上第二口、亚洲第一口垂直深度超万米井。标志着我国自主攻克了万米级特深井钻探技术瓶颈，深地油气钻探能力及配套技术跻身国际先进水平。
深地塔科1井位于新疆阿克苏地区沙雅县境内，地处塔克拉玛干沙漠腹地，是中国石油在塔里木油田实施的重大“深地工程”，肩负着科学探索和油气发现两大使命。该井设计井深11100米，于2023年5月30日开钻。
279个日夜，29颗钻头，1060多根钻杆，12套地层，石油人爬坡过坎，成功打通了一条纵贯地上与地下万米的通道。钻进过程中，井斜、井径、固井等关键质量指标均100%合格，同时创下我国大尺寸套管下入最深和吨位最大、大尺寸井眼国产仪器测井最深等多项纪录。中国工程院院士孙金声对此评价：“这在我国钻探工程史上具有里程碑式重大意义。”
目前，我国陆上深层超深层油气资源占全国油气资源总量的34%，并且深层超深层新增油气储量占比逐年增大。深地塔科1井所处的塔里木盆地，是全球唯一以超深层资源为主的含油气盆地，也是我国最大的深地油气富集区。
近年来，中国石油在塔里木盆地大力实施“深地工程”，累计成功钻探了140多口深度超8000米的“地下珠峰”。2023年，中国石油塔里木油田在塔里木盆地开采出的超深层油气达1957万吨，位居全国首位，成为我国最大超深油气生产基地。
